4 WAYS TO HONOR THY MOTHER™
The idea to honor your mother isn’t just a slogan for us here at father.world, it’s a way of life. And we believe that nobody is exempt. The level of happiness in our homes skyrockets when we show honor to the building-block of the family, the mother.
You may think, ‘that is fine when we were children but do we continue to do that even though we are adults? And can you set an example for your children about how you would like them to treat their mother?” The answer is a resounding “Yes!” to both questions.
Does your mother feel loved and honored? What can you do to bring a big smile to her face? In our adult years, it’s easy to distance ourselves from our moms because life gets hectic and multiple demands steal our time. Make it a habit to contact her regularly, let her know you’re thinking about her. And try our suggestions; you just might get a big unexpected smile/hug from a very happy mom.
2. FORGIVE HER COMPASSIONATELY. Since there are no perfect mothers, at times we’ll have to forgive them. If your mom seems harsh or unloving, show compassion. If you are prone to arguing when you try to speak with her, remember Proverbs 15:1: “A compassionate word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger”. Put away your harsh words and try to approach her with more compassion.
3. REMEMBER HER GRATEFULLY. This Mother’s Day, thank Mom for all she did for you when you were young. But don’t let it end there. Nothing is more hurtful than feeling forgotten. Make room for her in your busy schedule. After all, she made countless sacrifices for you.
4. TREAT HER KINDLY. Let your mother know she’s valued. Take time to listen attentively to her words, and help her out when she is in need.
